Well off the beaten path, our home offers a private and intimate experience connecting with the wonders of the rainforest. Built on a ridge with mountains behind, the home looks over the canopy of our private wildlife reserve project and out to the ocean beyond. The home’s focus is open-air living and features both outdoor dining and living areas, as well as an outdoor, screened-in bedroom – a favorite of many guests. With three other bedrooms and two full baths, the home sleeps seven in beds, with foam mattresses for additional guests as needed. The pool, which adjoins the master bedroom patio, has a walkway cantilevered over the rainforest.

A true nature lover’s paradise, the Rainforest Preserve Lodge and the surrounding Preserve offer so many ways to encounter and experience a wide variety of wildlife – watching toucans and other birds from the balcony, waking to marauding coatimundis in the trees or monkeys passing by. You never know what you’ll see next. Our land is in the midst of the “Path of the Tapir” biological corridor. We are developing a system of trails through the Preserve to enhance the opportunities to view wildlife and witness the exceptional natural beauty of the property. A morning walk with our caretaker (and nature guide extraordinaire!) to Hummingbird Falls or into the mountains is always a magical learning experience.

Our sunset platform, which overlooks 40 miles of coastline, is a great place to enjoy a picnic supper at sunset and look for whales below. The seven or eight beaches within a half-hour up and down the coast each offer a different ocean experience. Swimming, surfing, snorkeling, kayaking to sea caves, boating, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, rappelling down waterfalls or just relaxing are all available close by. Whatever level of adventure you enjoy is waiting for you.
